Episode 2: Ain’t Nothing Like a Good Old Picnic

Synopsis: Inspired by the works of silent film masters Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, Giggling is the Best Medicine takes viewers into a quirky post-Covid-19 world. In this novel landscape, previously taken-for-granted situations are given a humorous twist as people try to adapt to the “new normal”.
With the streets of Hong Kong as the main stage, these 15 clips feature instantly recognisable scenarios that serve as a resonant introduction to silent film for younger family members. They also get to see for themselves how and why the genre has been a source of inspiration for comedy today.
In keeping with this older movie era, the clips are in black and white, with a faster projection speed, and title cards for dialogue or setting the scene.
