孫權因劉備佔據荊州不還，與部下周瑜設美人計，假稱將孫權妹妹孫尚香許配給劉備，誘他過江拘禁為人質，以換回荊州。孫權的計謀被劉備的軍師諸葛亮識破，諸葛亮借周瑜岳父喬玄說服孫權之母吳國太，吳國太在甘露寺與劉備會面，婚事最終弄假成真。
劉備贅婚東吳後，周瑜以各種聲色享樂迷惑劉備，讓他不欲離開東吳回轉荊州，劉備部下趙雲用諸葛亮所付錦囊之計，詐稱曹操襲取荊州，劉備遂與孫尚香一同回荊州。周瑜率兵追至，諸葛亮已預備船隻，接應劉備脫險，並派遣張飛埋伏在蘆花蕩口……

Synopsis: To regain Jingzhou—seized by Liu Bei—Sun Quan, with his subordinate Zhou Yu, sets up a honey trap, lying about betrothing his younger sister Sun Shangxiang to Liu. He aims to entice Liu to cross the river for the marriage, and then take him hostage. But Liu’s strategist Zhuge Liang sees through the tactics and has Zhou’s father-in-law Qiao Xuan repeated his words to Sun Quan’s mother, Empress Dowager of Wu. In the end, the Empress Dowager is convinced and meets Liu at Ganlu Temple, and the marriage becomes a reality.
After marrying into the royal family of Eastern Wu, Liu refrains from returning to Jingzhou due to the tempting pleasures proffered by Zhou. His subordinate Zhao Yun takes a tip from Zhuge and tricks Liu into coming back to Jingzhou with a false story that the province has been annexed by Cao Cao. Liu and Sun set out for Jingzhou. Zhou and his troops then try to intercept them, but Zhuge has already arranged a getaway boat for Liu and Sun and has dispatched Zhang Fei to the mouth of Lake Luhua to lie in ambush for Zhou…
